Differences Between Your Country and the U.S.

I already here about 10 months. I think there is some diffrent between my country Korea.

Especially when I meet stranger most of american say "Hello", "How are you?". However I can

answer thire question. It cause not I can't understand, because my country never talk with stranger.

First time it's been a big adjustment, now I'm getting used to it.

  3. In America, people smile and talk freely with people they don't know. It is normal to go to a bank, a restaurant, or a store and be greeted with, "Hi! How are you? How is your day going?" When you leave, people say, "Bye! Have a nice day!"

When I went to Asia, it was hard for me to get used to the situation of nobody smiling and nobody talking to you. I felt, uncomfortable and isolated. If I needed help, I didn't know who to ask because no one looked friendly and approachable. In America, workers are trained to make eye contact, smile, and say, "Can I help you?"

The next time someone greets you, you can answer back, "I'm fine. How are you?" Then you can have a short conversation with anyone about anything and practice your English. You may even make a new friend!
